First, I felt like I was "falling out of shape." Every week, it got harder to get around the tennis court.
But I was busy dealing with gynecological issues, so nobody bothered to look above my belly button. Insead, the fatigue was chalked up to endometriosis, the coughing was Lymes and then pneumomia. The weight loss wasn't explained.
Finally, an astute pulmonologist looked at the x-ray of the 15 cm lump in my left lung, said, "That's a tumor" and sent me to the hospital.
It was Stage 3 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and I was about 2 months from a heart attack and/or lung collapse or worse.
I started chemo right away and then had radiation and now, I'm 4 1/2 years in remission.
