The basics of sore throat management include soothing and anesthetic swish and swallow preparations (benadryl/maalox/xylocaine, magic mouthwash, etc) and systemic pain medicines. The systemic pain medicines range from over the counter medications and escalates as needed to narcotic medications as needed.
