Genetic tests on the cancer itself, such as the Oncotype Dx or MammaPrint tests, can help not only give guidance as far as the likelihood of cancer recurrence, but also on whether or not chemotherapy will be of benefit. In addition, algorithms such as Adjuvant! Online (http://adjuvantonline.com/index.jsp) can be useful in trying to predict recurrence rates and the possible benefit from chemotherapy.

Well that is the golden question. There are only stats to answer that, no guarantees, though most Dr. will tell you that with DCIS with no lymph involvement, they can give your almost 100% guarantee that they got it all, but no one is able to say with all certainty that it will not come back. Vigilant followup for 5 years, then annually after that. Your oncologist will have the stats, American Cancer Soc. also has information regarding this. Good luck!
