The depression is not only related to the meds, but to the dx itself. I have to say honestly it was not until i celebrated my birthday 1.5 years after my treatment that I gave myself permission to be happy, to stop looking over my shoulder, to really really live again. Depression after Dx is a process. Sometimes you can beat it with the help of your support system and sometimes you need a little extra help. Then most important thing I learned is to ask for help whenever I needed it. A very humbling experience.

My experience with chemo involved interferon shots 3 times a week. I had a large cut on my upper inside leg which I chose to NOT have any attempts at cosmetic surgery. Bermuda shorts covered quite well and, even the longer tennis shorts went down to the knees. The interferon caused depression along with exhaustion. This lasted about a month. I used walking and riding a bike for exercise afterwards, and slowly I regained concentration and lost depression. My wife is the strength in our family - I'm only a pretender.
