You're definitely right about that! If I could choose any juicer I wanted, I'd pick a Vitamix. It uses every part of the fruit or veggie, whereas with other juicers, the fiber is separated. I also like Vitamix because you can use it to make nut and seed butters - yum!
That said - Vitamix is very expensive in comparison to standard juicers. To be honest, I couldn't afford a Vitamix when I was going through treatment; I had far too many bills to pay. So I got a Breville juicer, which was in my budget. Four years later it's still running :)
So don't beat yourself up if a Vitamix or other high-tech blender is not in your budget. It's a good item to save up for...but you will still get a great deal of the benefits of drinking fresh juice even if you don't have an expensive juicer.
However, I would recommend a stainless steel juicer over a plastic one, with as high an amount of horse power as you can afford (this is specified on the outside of the box). They are a lot sturdier, and less plastic = less potential harm to you and the environment from plastics.
