Tamoxifen dosing is typically 20 mg per day for all patients. Side effects do not appear to be dose related, so changing to a lower dose would be unlikely to relieve any side effects. Many years ago studies were done on women with metastatic breast cancer comparing 20 vs 40 mg per day. There did not seem to be any benefit from the higher dosing, but there also did not seem to be any increase in side effects either. So 20 mg per day is the generally agreed upon dose.
