I had breast reconstruction surgery one year ago. What would you recommend to increase flexibility in my arms and to reduce pain along scarred areas.
I had a bilateral mastectomy with expander placement in August of 2009. Had latissimus flap to non-radiated side (skin, muscle from my back along with an implant) in May of 2010. Had latissimus flap to radiated side September of 2011. I still have quite a bit of pain in my back - especially along scar tissue areas. I also have limited range of motion in both arms, but, especially my radiated side. I am struggling with daily discomfort and feel limited in what I can do either because of the pain, lymphedema concerns or just limited range of motion. I know I need to increase my flexibility and range of motion. Do you have any suggestions as to how I could best reduce pain and increase my range of motion?

Best to consult with a physical therapist to help design a program for increasing flexibility and scar management.
