This varies. If a frozen section is done, then preliminary results are available during surgery. Routine H and E stains take 1- 4 days generally, but it very much depends on the turnaround of the pathology department. If immunohistochemistry is done (and there is a trend away from that) then turnaround of a week from surgery can be expected.
