I am the founder of TalkAboutHealth. I am here to help in whatever way I can. Feel free to email me at any time at murray@talkabouthealth.com.
I was inspired to start TalkAboutHealth after my father had melanoma. We had such a difficult time understanding our health situation and making decisions. There was so much information, and we did not know what was relevant or significant to our situation. We needed personalized answers from experts and to connect with others like us. That's what TalkAboutHealth is about, connecting people who need health support with the people who can help.
Our goal is to improve outcomes by helping patients become more engaged in their health care, feel confident in their decisions, and find others like them to connect with for support.

My current interest is the comprehensive clinical care and research development for patients with thoracic malignancies, with particular emphasis on non small cell lung cancer. Working closely with thoracic surgeons, pulmonologists, and radiation oncologists my goal is to establish clinical trials focusing on newer therapies for both locally advanced and advanced staged lung cancer. As patients are now living longer and developing lung cancer at a later age, I believe that there should be particular attention devoted to targeted, less toxic treatments in attempts to improve survival and limit side effects.

I'm a fll-time working mom who's been diagnosed when my kids were 18mos and 3,5 year-old. It changed my life and recentered my priorities although I never really slowed down. I wanted to own my life even through breast cancer.
Because of my kids and husband, there was NO WAY I would let this dreaded disease get the best of me. I woke up every morning to walk, run, bike or elliptical train, even on my worst days. I wanted to keep as much of me as I could. Because the appearance of the tumor was so sudden and grew so fiercly, I was already a stage III by the time of my last physical exam on my annual doctor appointment, that was only two months later.
In this, I found something I ignored for such a long time, my inner writer. I was already an avid reader of romance novels, but by the time my chemo, double mastec, radio therapy was done, I had written 2 books, started 3 more. If I ever get published, I want to donate part of the proceed to Breast Cancer research, because without the special protocol I was put on, I'm not sure I would have beaten Breast Cancer.

I was quite surprised upon diagnosis..... no family member going back for generations had breast or any other type of cancer. Navigating through the process was not easy because I needed to make decisions in a short amount of time. With research and a very supportive family, I was confident that I had made the correct choices. Putting my life on hold and not being able to enjoy my sporting activities has been difficult. Implants were recently put in place after a bilateral mastectomy and now I am ready to face whatever comes my way. I am looking forward to returning to the tennis court and riding my horse!

My favorite activity is to be with my family and as a family we enjoy swimming, bicycling, hiking, and exercising together. In our household we have had one mainstay and that is we eat together, especially our evening meal. During my husband's illness and cancer treatment, we continued that togetherness at mealtime. In my free time I'm an avid reader of mystery novels, newspapers, and the Bible.

I am a mother, writer, and breast cancer survivor. I wrote my memoir, Hopping Roller Coasters, about my daughter and me, both diagnosed with bipolar disorder. We hiked a loooong rocky road, and then comes cancer. It's about loving, forgiving, being forgiven, moving forward.
I also have a website: www.1UpOnCancer.com. I got on the Internet after my cancer diagnosis, and what I read scared me stiff. I launched this site for a place to hear the positive, and to share what we can do for our health moving forward.
