Do dense breasts increase the risk of breast cancer?
I've had (Rex) at least 4 aspirations and 2 cyst sac removal surgeries in 18 yrs. Dx IDC 2011 opted for bi lat Mastectomy. Stage 1, er+, Her 2+, grade 2.

Dense breasts in and of themselves do not increase breast cancer risk. Mammographic density has been shown to be associated with an increase risk of developing breast cancer but this is felt primarily to be acting as a surrogate for signs of proliferative response to hormonal exposure.
