Are plastic surgeons and doctors required to give patients the books given out by the companies who make silicone implants?

Just worried about the silicone implants and the FDA updated warnings, I went to their site and read the booklet, don't think I would have done it if it had been given to me at the time.

And also do you have to sign the last page of that booklet for informed consent for silicone implants? I received nothing from my Doctor. Been having problems since they were put in. The pain is severe. I went back to him many times, then went to a Dr. in Rochester hoping someone could tell me what was going on. I called mentor to see if they had reported the problems with my implants and neither one did. The FDA has posted warnings about these, and I do not understand them not reporting the problem.

I seen a third plastic surgeon and he diagnosed me with capsular contraction with nerve impingement in about 15 minutes. After all the time I had begged for help from my original surgeon who told me nothing was wrong I needed to go to the pain clinic and get on a drug regimin. Which was not true at all. Was he just blowing me off, and didn't want to report my problems. Or could he have possibly not be able to tell what was going on?

There are many different materials that are given to patients regarding Breast Reconstruction. Some are form the plastic surgeon's office, some are from the implant company, others are from our society ASPS. Some patients receive all types. There is not a requirement to give out the booklets from the company but it may be helpful.
