Anti-cancer Foods

Some people need protein. There is no perfect one-size-fits-all diet. Soy protein is a complete protein, meaning it contains all the essential amino acids we need as humans. If you like soy(and other)beans, many of which have anti-cancer compounds, make sure you get them organic/GMO-free. Soy is a heavily genetically-modified crop. And, as we don't know the human impact of those organisms, best to play it safe. Plus, soy is a major allergenic food. Additionally, it contains compounds which slow the thyroid. So, if you buy organic, don't have a soy allergy, have a healthy thyroid and enjoy soy, the best soy foods are the traditional ones which have been safely consumed for millenia (most have been fermented or processed for digestibility): (organic) miso, tempeh, tofu , natto, soy sauce, some edamame (young beans). Soy has compounds which lower cholesterol and are anti-estrogenic. There are also pro-estrogenic compounds as well, depending on the estrogen environment within the body. The overwhelming majority of studies supports protective and inhibitory effect against breast cancerhttp://articles.latimes.com/2011/apr/06/news/la-heb-soy-breast-cancer-survivors-20110406 . Mechanisms are still being investigated, as are dosage & timing. Miso soup looks very good http://www.webmd.com/breast-cancer/news/20030617/miso-soup-may-fight-breast-cancer Some people need protein. Yes, the posted information is confusing and mixed on the acidity/alkalinity of blueberries. All high antioxidant foods and richly-pigmented foods have compounds that are anti-inflammatory and frequently anti-cancer. I do not focus on pH, since each person has unique needs based on their genetics, their health situation and their external environment. Some need high protein (especially to repair from surgery & radiation), some need less. The body regulates the pH of the blood very carefully through many mechanisms. I would focus on foods which have specific anti-breast cancer activity (organic wherever possible): the cruciferous vegetables (raw or cooked), the garlic-onion family, green/white tea, pomegranates, flax seeds, most spices (especially tumeric, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, basil), omega 3-rich (low mercury/low pcb) fish & nuts/seeds, high fiber foods, low glycemic foods, fermented foods, mushrooms. Some foods are even more specifically targeted to Her2neu (olives/olive oil)or are aromatase-inhibiting (white button mushrooms), so a dietary plan can be constructed specifically for your unique situation rather than a one-size-fits-all.
