The advantages are many.
- No Foreign Objects
- No Cuts or Incisions
- No NEW Scars (old mastectomy scars improve to nearly melt away)
- Liposuction (body sculpting)
- Quick Recovery
- Natural Breasts
- Near Normal Sensation IN the reconstructed breast(reconstruction)
- Less invasive surgery
- Less risks of complication and failure

Some of the disadvantages of BRAVA + AFT are:
- The BRAVA device must be worn 10 hrs / day over a period of a few months.
- Not an immediate reconstruction after mastectomy, a follow up procedure is needed.
- For larger breasts, multiple sessions are needed.

Our fat transfer procedure to the breast is minimally invasive making it very appealing to breast cancer patients. One of the many advantages of fat transfer is that the body does not reject it because it is the patient's own fat. Another benefit is the body sculpting. I call it a two-fer.

I use very fine needle-like cannula, that I developed, to gently perform liposuction. The fat naturally contains stem cells, which are harvested in the process along with the fat and preserved in the transfer. However, nothing artificial is added nor biologically manipulated within the harvested fat.

Studies have shown that breasts rebuilt with this fat transfer process, pre-expanded with BRAVA, result in high fat survival and last forever. They look and feel natural and retain near-normal sensation.
Question by: PositivelyPat (Survivor (2 - 5 years))
Many of my patients come to me years after their mastectomy. Of course, I prefer to rebuild their breast during the mastectomy operation. But the result is the same.

With our BRAVA + AFT (autologous fat transfer) procedure you will not be cut open again. As compared to the traditional methods, this involves no incisions, no new scars, no foreign objects and it recreates a natural feeling breast with the benefit of liposuction.

Plus, you will keep as close to normal sensation in your breasts and nipples. The procedure is covered by insurance for breast cancer patients.

BRAVA is placed over the breast area. The bra is worn while you sleep for average of 30 days before surgery. External expansion of the breast occurs via a comfortable vacuum pressure created by BRAVA. Tissue, and blood vessels begin to expand and generate a scaffold for fat to be injected. Your fat is harvested from several areas of your body through liposuction and is strategically injected into your breasts. No cuts or incisions are made.
Breast implants require additional surgery. They don't feel normal or look natural. The patient looses sensation in her breasts. They also require maintenance and there is a high percentage of patients that will likely need a re-operation or removal of the implants due to breast implant complications. I see it every day in my practice, which is why a high percentage of my patients come in to have their implants removed and replaced with fat.

There is no comparison. With my BRAVA + AFT (autologous fat transfer) procedure, you will not have another surgery. You will not be cut open again, no new scars and you will keep near-normal sensation in your breasts. You breasts will look and feel bouncy, warm, normal and will have sensation. You will have no foreign material implanted inside your breast And you get the added benefit of liposuction.

Studies have shown that breasts rebuilt with this fat transfer process, pre-expanded with BRAVA, result in high fat survival and last forever. They look and feel natural and retain near-normal sensation. Compared to implants that on average need to be replaced every 10 years and can leave a woman with non-sensate breasts and nipples.

In the non-radiated breast, 4 months if the reconstruction is started at the time of the mastectomy, 6-7 months if the reconstruction is started after the mastectomy

Question by: murray (Family member)
We generally like to see the patient 72 hrs after the surgery.
You will need to wear a compression girdle for 3 consecutive weeks.
If you need a follow-up procedure, you will begin wearing BRAVA in preparation for the next grafting session.

If your breasts have not been irradiated we can usually give you back even d cup breasts in 2-3 grafting sessions. If you have previous radiation, you will require 2 more sessions to reverse the radiation damage
Question by: murray (Family member)
If you are a smoker or are currently undergoing chemotherapy. Or if you find you cannot comply with wearing the BRAVA device for 10 hrs / day over a period of a few months (usually sleep with it every night)
Question by: JKJones (Pharmacist (Verified))
Our method of fat grafting, together with the use of our external expander BRAVA, has proven to be uniquely successful on a lumpectomy/mastectomy breast that has been radiated. With the traditional methods, such as flap or implants, a radiated breast is very difficult to reconstruct. Our technique even helps reverse the damage caused by radiation. That is a major advance for our patients: we can now reverse the radiation damage (unheard of). It will take a couple of grafting sessions, however, to reverse the radiation damage and bring the radiated side up to the same stage as the non-radiated side.

On the mastectomy side: we offer the most natural reconstruction available. Our procedure helps women reclaim what they lost to cancer. Our breakthrough technique rebuilds your breasts with no implants, no traumatic flap surgeries, no incisions, no new scars and you are able to keep near-normal sensation in your breasts. No other procedure allows for that.

We will take fat from where you do not need it, harvest it, and inject it into your breast as thousands of tiny droplets at a time. We will match both of your breasts and you will have natural looking and normal-feeling breasts. More specifics on our technique, as well as patient testimonials are available on our site athttp://www.MiamiBreastCenter.com
